AXA Philippines, a leading insurance company in the Philippines, has partnered with Bixie, an online financial literacy platform, to make insurance more accessible to women. As part of the partnership, AXA’s micro insurance products will be available on the Bixie app. The application process will be simplified, with less paperwork, making it easier for people to purchase insurance and protect themselves.
Rose Musico, Chief of General Insurance & Commercial Business at AXA Philippines, said, “In AXA, we are committed towards reinforcing gender equality and helping drive financial inclusion. We join Bixie in its thrust of empowering women to know their worth as well as grow their worth.”
Bixie is a platform that helps women gain knowledge, network, and tools to start investing. The company uses UBX, an open finance platform that provides an extensive network of financial institutions and embedded solutions. According to Bixie’s founder & CEO, Rosalia Gitau, “Bixie’s entire mission is to empower women to start managing and controlling their money and then to grow it. We want women at all socioeconomic levels to know that this is within their reach. What we love about this partnership with AXA is that they are providing microinsurance products that are so affordable and so accessible that it really is aligned with our mission.”
In addition to making microinsurance more accessible through the Bixie app, AXA Philippines will also provide microinsurance to 500 Filipina small and medium enterprise (SME) owners, who were selected through the Catholic Relief Services (CRS). This partnership is the result of a month-long pilot project that AXA and Bixie conducted with CRS, a humanitarian agency in the United States. The project invested in and insured 500 Filipina SME owners who were graduates of CRS’ savings and loan schemes. These women have already demonstrated initiative in wanting to determine a better future for themselves.
