The Asia Artist Awards (AAA) makes its Philippine debut, drawing some of K-pop and K-drama’s biggest names. After six years, the prestigious event heads to the Philippines, with the majestic Philippine Arena in Bulacan as its grand stage, capable of hosting 55,000 fans. The date marked on every Hallyu fan’s calendar is December 14, promising a dazzling spectacle of talent recognition in South Korea’s music, television, and film industry.
Star-Studded Anticipation
Since late August, Filipino Hallyu aficionados have eagerly awaited the announcement of celebrity attendees for this star-studded affair. As per reports from Star News, the AAA’s organizing Korean media outlet, here’s the confirmed lineup (so far) of the glittering event:
A Trio of MCs
Expertly hosting the 2023 AAA are a trio of K-pop luminaries. Soloist Kang Daniel, Jang Wonyoung from girl group IVE, and Sung Hanbin of boy band ZEROBASEONE will grace the stage. All three share backgrounds in Mnet’s survival shows, including “Produce 101” and, in Hanbin’s case, “Boys Planet.”
NewJeans
Debuting just last year, NewJeans, a five-member group under ADOR, a label under K-pop giant Hybe, have been dominating global charts with their easy-listening style reminiscent of 1990s and early 2000s pop and R&B.
Le Sserafim
Debuting in 2022, Le Sserafim, an anagram for “I’m fearless,” is set to connect with Filipino fans for the first time at the 2023 AAA. Known for catchy tracks like “Antifragile,” “Unforgiven,” and their latest hit, “Eve, Psyche & the Bluebeard’s Wife.”
NMIXX
NMIXX, JYP Entertainment’s newest girl group, is renowned for their genre-blending style called MIXXPOP. After a successful showcase last June, they’re ready to captivate the Filipino audience once again.
ZEROBASEONE
Formed through the survival series “Boys Planet,” the nine-member ZEROBASEONE, or ZB1, is rapidly emerging as one of K-pop’s most promising acts. Their debut EP sold 1.82 million copies in a week, a remarkable industry achievement.
BOYNEXTDOOR
BOYNEXTDOOR entered the scene in May as the first idol group under KOZ Entertainment, a Hybe sub-label led by rapper-producer Zico. Known for catchy singles like “One and Only” and “But Sometimes,” they add more firepower to the AAA lineup.
Get ready to witness this spectacular convergence of talent and glamour, as the Asia Artist Awards 2023 brings the magic of K-pop and K-drama to the heart of the Philippines.
