Kapamilya star Aljon Mendoza is making his debut as a recording artist with the release of his first single, “Panghabang-Baby,” set to drop this Friday (Sept. 27).
Aljon gave fans a taste of his new song with a live performance at the StarPop Campus Tour, held at Northern Iloilo State University on September 18.
“I’m just so happy. I’m excited to experience recording and performing songs, especially for those who support me. I really enjoy campus tours because I see how much joy I can bring to students and people,” he shared.
“Panghabang-Baby,” originally performed by Vance Larena, is a romantic pop track about a guy confessing his feelings to his special someone. The song was composed by Nino Carlo J. Reyes and Philip Thomas Vinoya, and produced by StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos.
Aljon described his first single as heartfelt and catchy, noting its simplicity and sincerity.
“When I first heard it, I immediately liked it because the lyrics are simple and have such pure intentions. The beat is so catchy that it got stuck in my head. I kept playing it, not just to learn it, but because I genuinely liked the song,” Aljon said.
Aljon, who first rose to fame as a standout housemate on Pinoy Big Brother: Otso, has since made a name for himself as a promising actor, starring in shows like Hoy Love You, The Viral Scandal, The Four Bad Boys and Me, and Teen Clash. He also charmed audiences with his authentic personality and energy in reality shows like Rise and Go and Boys After Dark. Most recently, he appeared in the blockbuster film Unhappy For You alongside Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto.
