*AirAsia plans to transfer international flights to NAIA T1 to optimize airport operations and improve customer experience
AirAsia Philippines is taking proactive measures to mitigate the impact of Fuel Surcharge and ensure that travel remains affordable and enjoyable, especially during the final month of summer.
Over the past three months, the Fuel Surcharge has remained at a high Level 6, adding PHP185 to PHP665 for domestic flights and PHP610.37 to PHP949.51 for international flights for tickets purchased between May 1st and May 30th. AirAsia Philippines emphasizes that tickets purchased in January and February will not be affected by Fuel Surcharge adjustments.
Despite the high Fuel Surcharge, AirAsia Philippines continues to demonstrate positive performance, evident in the Q1 number of seats sold, which reached 91% or PHP 1.87 million compared to its initial target. The load factor has also increased by 104% during the same period.
“At AirAsia, travelers can always count on affordable fares. Our ongoing promotions, such as the LFG 20% off All Seats, All Flights, available until April 28th, will undoubtedly help make your travel plans a reality. However, we advise our guests to plan their trips in advance to maximize cost savings,” shared AirAsia Philippines Head of Communications and Public Affairs and First Officer, Steve Dailisan.
AirAsia is exploring various measures to optimize airport operations and enhance the customer journey. The airline is currently in discussions with Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) Executives to facilitate the transfer of its international flights from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1.
“The proximity between Terminals 1 and 2, where AirAsia operates domestic flights, is expected to optimize taxiway usage and reduce carbon emissions, benefiting overall airport operations. Guests can also anticipate an improved customer journey with shorter transfer times between the two terminals. We view this as the ‘Best Move’ for all stakeholders,” added Dailisan.
Last year, AirAsia successfully relocated its domestic operations from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2.
“The MIAA, led by General Manager Eric Jose Ines, has been very supportive of this initiative. We appreciate their commitment to prioritizing the welfare of our guests,” shared Dailisan.
In 2023, AirAsia Philippines flew over 1.72 million guests to various international destinations. This year, it aims to double that number and increase frequencies on existing international routes, making air travel accessible to all.
