AirAsia Philippines is gearing up for a robust second half of 2024 as Filipino travelers show increasing willingness to invest in their journeys.
According to a recent study conducted by travel platform Klook, over 70% of Filipinos are prepared to increase their spending on airline tickets, accommodations, and activities this year. While domestic travel remains a popular choice for quick getaways, a staggering 76% of Filipinos express readiness for international travel in the coming months.
In a bid to cater to this growing demand, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline has partnered with Klook to promote popular tourist attractions in Japan.
AirAsia Philippines’ performance in the second quarter reflects this enthusiasm, with a load factor of 78.9%, indicating that over 1 million Filipino travelers have already secured their flights for immediate travel until June 2024. Popular international destinations include Taipei, Bangkok, Narita, Osaka, and Incheon.
Steve Dailisan, AirAsia’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs, emphasizes the company’s commitment to providing affordable travel deals, ensuring seamless access not only to Philippine destinations but also to 10 ASEAN countries and 130 destinations across the region and beyond. Dailisan highlights the company’s dedication to safety and service excellence as key drivers of travel excitement.
With a current load factor exceeding 80% as of May 13, AirAsia remains confident that its second-quarter figures will surpass the impressive 92% load factor achieved in the first quarter. This confidence is bolstered by an uptick in last-minute summer trip bookings, fueled in part by AirAsia’s monthly promos and sales, which play a significant role in guests’ decision-making processes.
In a move to further incentivize air travel, AirAsia is offering a one-way base fare of PHP1,750 to various destinations in Australia—including Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and others—valid for travel until March 31, 2025. This limited-time offer aims to encourage more Filipinos to embark on memorable journeys to Australia and beyond.
AirAsia Philippines is expanding its flight operations by increasing the frequency of flights from its Cebu hub to Boracay and Davao, now offering daily services. Additionally, flights to Bacolod, Bohol, Boracay, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, and Tacloban continue to operate out of Manila via NAIA T2, with frequencies ranging from 3 to 9 times daily.
For international destinations, flights to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Narita, and Macau maintain schedules of 3 to 14 times weekly departing from NAIA T3. This extensive network ensures convenient connectivity for travelers, whether they are flying domestically within the Philippines or venturing abroad.
