AirAsia PH Updates Cabin Policy on Power Banks

AirAsia Philippines is reinforcing its commitment to global aviation safety by strictly implementing the latest guidelines from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on the use of portable electronic devices, particularly power banks.

Strict Guidelines on Power Banks

As outlined in CAAP Advisory Circular No. 18-005, the use of power banks during flights is strictly prohibited due to potential safety hazards posed by lithium-ion batteries.

Updated AirAsia Policy

AirAsia Philippines’ updated policy permits passengers to carry up to two (2) power banks, with each unit not exceeding 100 watt-hours (Wh). However, these power banks:
✅ Must be stored with personal belongings under the seat or in the seat pocket.
❌ Cannot be stored in overhead compartments.
❌ Must not be used during the flight.

Safety First, Always

“While we recognize that power banks have become travel essentials, safety remains our top priority at AirAsia,” said First Officer Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head. “We encourage guests to charge their devices before boarding and fully comply with these safety protocols, which are enforced by our highly trained ground and inflight crew.”

Enforcement and Penalties

To ensure compliance, AirAsia Philippines will remind guests of this policy before boarding. Passengers found using power banks during the flight will receive a warning. Continued non-compliance may result in the confiscation of the device, which will be returned upon landing.
