From the more than 500 participants in this year’s search for the AirAsia Travel Photographer contest who submitted their entries online last July 2016, the shortlisted 20 participants were gathered at the Café Italia in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City for the final 6 selection process last August 4.
The six finalists went through rounds of judging and were selected based on their personality, creativity, content, originality and technical or visual presentation by the panel of judges consisting of:
- Nachi Ugarte, creative director of GRID magazine;
- Jacob Maentz, documentary photographer;
- Wawi Navarrosa, artist/photographer, founder of Thousandfold;
- Rudy Kaw, AirAsia Group’s head of branding
After the selection process based on the contestants personality, creativity, content, originality and technical or visual presentation, the following 6 were selected:
From Left to Right:
- Dave Poblete – Makati
- Daniel Magbanua – Q.C
- Neil Michael Cardano – Puerto Princesa
- Atty. Eliseo Zuniga – Taguig
- Kimberly Pauig – Pasig
- Mithilaya Miclat – Davao
The six finalists will be traveling to Shanghai, China, an AirAsia international destination this August for the final leg of the competition. They will be given challenges in in landscape, portrait and food photography.
From the final assignments, the Grand Winner will be declared as the “AirAsia Travel Photographer of the Year”.
The winner will receive 200,000 AirAsia BIG Points, surprise vacation package and more prizes from partner brands including GRID magazine and Flight 001.
