ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ foremost content provider, has once again been honored by the Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas community for its ongoing innovations in entertainment, truthful journalism, and public service. The network received its seventh consecutive Media of the Year award at the 2024 Golden Laurel: The Batangas Province Media Awards.
At the awards ceremony held on June 14, various Kapamilya shows and personalities were recognized for their outstanding contributions:
ABS-CBN’s popular noontime program “It’s Showtime” was named Best Variety Show, while the long-running singing competition “Tawag ng Tanghalan” won Best Entertainment Show (Segment).
The hit primetime series “Can’t Buy Me Love” clinched the Best Drama Series award, with lead actors Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano honored as Best Drama Actor and Actress for their roles as Bingo and Caroline, respectively. Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings, who co-starred in the series, received the Breakthrough Loveteam of the Year award for their captivating performances as SnoRene.
BINI, hailed as the Nation’s Girl Group, received the Breakthrough P-Pop Group award in recognition of their contributions to the OPM scene and their international acclaim.
ABS-CBN News was also celebrated at the 7th Golden Laurel Awards, with its official website news.abs-cbn.com winning Online News Website of the Year. Bernadette Sembrano, anchor of “TV Patrol,” was once again honored as Female Newscaster of the Year.
Additionally, Kapamilya host Luis Manzano was recognized with the Innovative Content Creation Award for his online show “Luis Listens.”
Now in its seventh year, the Golden Laurel Awards aims to acknowledge media institutions, programs, and personalities that have significantly influenced the Philippine entertainment industry.
