BYD and ACMobility Pledge $100 for Every BYD Sealion 6 DM-i

BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility strengthen commitment to local communities with every Sealion 6 DM-i sold

BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility, the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in the Philippines, have announced a charitable initiative to donate $100 for every BYD Sealion 6 DM-i sold between July 25, 2024, and December 31, 2024, to support the victims of Super Typhoon Carina. This campaign reflects both companies’ commitment to social responsibility and their ongoing efforts to assist affected communities.

As part of their disaster response, ACMobility was among the first organizations to mobilize relief efforts, distributing essential goods to over 100 families in Dela Paz, Pasig City, on July 26. Employees and volunteers from ACMobility, BYD Cars Philippines, and affiliated agencies joined forces in this humanitarian effort.

“On behalf of BYD, I would like to express my deepest sympathies to those affected by Typhoon Carina. Together with ACMobility, we aim to extend BYD’s support to Filipinos who have suffered from this unfortunate disaster,” stated Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division.

The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i

The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i is an all-electric compact SUV featuring BYD’s proprietary Super DM-i Technology, delivering power that surpasses conventional electric vehicles. With 217 horsepower and 325 Newton meters of torque, it can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just over eight seconds.

Equipped with a Blade Battery, the vehicle boasts a range of up to 105 kilometers in Pure EV Mode and 1,100 kilometers in Extended Range Mode, alleviating range anxiety for drivers. During the relief drive, attendees utilized the Sealion 6 DM-i’s Blade Battery to charge devices on-site.

The Sealion 6 DM-i is priced starting at ₱1,548,000, and for each unit sold, BYD and ACMobility will donate $100 to support the victims of Typhoon Carina throughout 2024.

“Guided by our company value of malasakit, we remain committed to going above and beyond in serving our communities during these trying times,” shared Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines.

The Devastating Impact of Typhoon Carina

Super Typhoon Carina, known internationally as Gaemi, wreaked havoc across the Philippines, impacting over 1.3 million people, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The hardest-hit regions included the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), where more than half a million individuals suffered property damage and losses. Approximately 211,000 people were displaced from their homes due to floods and landslides and sought refuge in evacuation centers.

Agriculture also faced severe setbacks, with Typhoon Carina affecting the livelihoods of at least 1,400 farmers and causing damages amounting to PHP 9.7 million. Additionally, irrigation systems suffered nearly PHP 6.5 million in damages, while destruction to non-agricultural infrastructure reached almost PHP 1.3 million.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this calamity,” Palanca added.
