2GO Collaborates with DOT on Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Program

14 2GO graduates proudly certified to train on DOT’s Filipino Brand of Service Excellence, helping align 2GO’s culture with the heart of Filipino hospitality.

Joining the 2GO Team are key figures from the Philippine Department of Tourism leading the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Program for 2GO Employee Training: Arlene Alipio, Human Capital Development Director; Ryan N. Sebastian, Manpower Training Division Chief; Julyda Dulay, Senior Tourism Operations Officer, Manpower Training Division; and Miriam Palabrica, FBSE Program Master Trainer.

2GO, the Philippines’ leading sea travel provider and a subsidiary of the SM Group, is excited to announce its partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) in support of the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Program. This collaboration highlights 2GO’s commitment to enhancing hospitality and promoting culturally aligned Filipino service across its operations, further reinforcing the company’s dedication to raising the standards of the tourism industry.

The FBSE Program, spearheaded by Hon. Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation Coordination and Resource Generation, is a flagship initiative designed to equip frontliners in the tourism and hospitality sectors with the skills needed to deliver exceptional service infused with the warmth of Filipino culture. The program emphasizes seven core Filipino values: Maka-Dios, Makatao, Maka-Kalikasan, Makabansa, Masayahin, May Bayanihan, and May Pag-asa, setting it apart from traditional customer service training.

“2GO’s commitment to the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Program reflects the industry’s dedication to enhancing hospitality standards in the Philippines. This collaboration ensures that our visitors experience the unique warmth and service that define the Filipino way,” says Hon. Shahlimar Hofer Tamano.

Strengthening Filipino Hospitality with 2GO

In alignment with the DOT’s initiatives, 2GO has proactively sent 14 participants to a “Train-The-Trainer” course conducted by the DOT. These participants will train fellow team members, especially those in frontline and tourism roles, on implementing culturally significant Filipino practices, such as the Mabuhay and Salamat gestures, within 2GO establishments. By adhering to FBSE standards, 2GO aims to create an environment that embodies Filipino warmth while enhancing the overall service experience.

These newly certified trainers will be instrumental in embedding FBSE principles throughout 2GO, ensuring that the company’s service consistently reflects the rich heritage of Filipino hospitality. “As we expect an increase in travelers to the Philippines, aligning with the FBSE Program allows us to contribute to a seamless Filipino hospitality experience for our passengers traveling from shore to shore,” states Frederic DyBuncio, President and CEO of 2GO Group, Inc.

Vince Canete, HR and Training Supervisor at 2GO and one of the newly certified trainers, shares, “The FBSE Program has truly enriched our service approach. It’s not just about training our staff; it’s about instilling a sense of pride and cultural identity that our passengers will feel in every interaction. We’re excited to bring this warmth and professionalism to life in our daily operations.”

Elevating Service Excellence Across the Organization

Integrating the FBSE Program within 2GO aims to cultivate a culture of service excellence, significantly elevating the quality standards of the tourism workforce in the sea travel sector. This initiative comes at a crucial time, as the Philippines continues to see a steady rise in tourist arrivals, making it essential for 2GO to deliver top-tier service that reflects Filipino values.

With plans to train 200 participants from various departments across different regions, 2GO is dedicated to reinforcing the significance of a brand that mirrors the rich heritage of Filipino hospitality. This partnership with the DOT marks another milestone in 2GO’s ongoing efforts to enhance service excellence in the transportation and logistics sector of the Philippines.
