Dusit International and Saigontourist Group Sign MOU to Strengthen Tourism Development in Thailand and Vietnam

By combining their expertise, both companies aim to create innovative experiences, enhance industry standards, and promote cultural exchange.

Dusit International, a leading hotel and property development company in Thailand, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Saigontourist Group, one of Vietnam’s largest multi-service travel corporations. This partnership aims to enhance tourism development in both countries through strategic promotions, improved services, and innovative tourism products.

The signing ceremony took place at the New World Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The MOU was formally signed by Mr Truong Duc Hung, General Director of Saigontourist Group (fourth from left), and Mr Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International (fifth from right).

As part of the MOU, Dusit International and Saigontourist Group will share technical expertise and best practices to elevate the quality of tourism services in Thailand and Vietnam. The two companies will also explore opportunities for joint hotel development and promote each other’s tourism offerings at major events, festivals, and travel fairs.

Thailand is a significant source market for Vietnam’s tourism, with Saigontourist Group’s extensive portfolio of hotels, resorts, and entertainment venues attracting thousands of Thai visitors annually. Conversely, Thailand is a popular destination for Vietnamese travelers. In 2023 and the first half of 2024, Saigontourist Travel Service Company facilitated trips for approximately 15,400 Vietnamese tourists to Thailand’s premier destinations, including Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, where Dusit Hotels and Resorts has a strong presence.

In addition to its expanding portfolio of global hotels and resorts, Dusit is a leader in hospitality education through Dusit Thani College, The Food School, and Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Culinary School, all of which train top talent for both Dusit properties and the wider industry. The collaboration will also focus on coordinating efforts in education and training to ensure that their workforces meet the highest industry standards.

“We are excited to partner with Saigontourist Group to strengthen tourism ties between Thailand and Vietnam,” said Mr. Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International. “This strategic alliance is more than just a business agreement; it represents a commitment to mutual growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable tourism development. Our collaboration will create new opportunities and innovations that will benefit both our organizations and the tourism sectors in our countries.”

Mr. Truong Duc Hung, General Director of Saigontourist Group, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “Through close collaboration and leveraging our combined growth potential, we will achieve remarkable success in tourism development, contributing to the socio-economic advancement of both Vietnam and Thailand.”

Dusit’s portfolio now spans 301 properties across 18 countries, including 57 under Dusit Hotels and Resorts and 244 luxury villas managed by Elite Havens, a leading luxury villa rental provider in Asia, which Dusit acquired in 2018. In Vietnam, Dusit operates the Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort in Phu Quoc and is set to open the Dusit Le Palais Tu Hoa in Hanoi next year.
