TELUS International Philippines (rebranding to TELUS Digital Philippines) celebrates 10 years of participating in the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela Program

TELUS International Philippines (TIP), soon to be rebranded as TELUS Digital Philippines later this year, is marking a decade of dedicated support for the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program. Over the past 10 years, TIP has significantly enhanced learning environments for more than 61,000 students across 22 public schools in Manila and Iloilo, contributing to safer and more conducive learning spaces in these communities.

Over 1,500 volunteers from TELUS International Philippines participated in refurbishing efforts at Manuel G. Araullo High School in its 10th year supporting Brigada Eskwela.

Throughout this period, over 17,200 TIP team members have collectively volunteered more than 85,000 hours for Brigada Eskwela. This year’s TELUS Days of Giving (TDOG) event in Iloilo was held at Ramon Avanceña National High School, where 192 volunteers from TIP’s Iloilo sites worked alongside teachers and students to make a difference.

TELUS International President and CEO Jeff Puritt, Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific and Africa Rajiv M.Dhand, and Country Vice President Anne Muñoz joined the Saturday volunteer work to enhance learning spaces for the incoming school year.

In Manila, the TDOG event saw more than 1,500 volunteers revitalizing Manuel G. Araullo High School. Founded in 1918, this school caters to students from Grades 7 to 12, as well as adult and out-of-school learners through the Alternative Learning System. Volunteers painted nearly 100 classrooms, refurbished 500 chairs, and repainted hallways and staircases to create inspiring and comfortable spaces for the upcoming academic year. Additional efforts included roof repairs, waterproofing buildings, and infrastructure enhancements, along with donations of 190 fans, 33 exit signs, and emergency lights. These improvements aim to provide immediate benefits and sustain a high-quality learning environment that positively impacts students’ educational outcomes.

“Giving back to our communities is a core aspect of our company culture,” said Rajiv M. Dhand, TELUS International APAC and Africa Regional Vice-President. “Our commitment to Brigada Eskwela and these schools is based on a thorough assessment to ensure our volunteer efforts make a meaningful impact on students’ educational experiences. We believe our success is intertwined with the well-being of the communities where our team members and their families live, work, and serve. Besides our annual Brigada Eskwela TDOG events, our team members also support various education-focused CSR programs, including donation drives for distance learning modules and virtual volunteering activities.”

TIP’s commitment extends beyond physical improvements, fostering a culture of giving that empowers team members, promotes personal and professional growth, and strengthens internal networks while instilling a greater sense of purpose.

“Bayanihan is central to this program, reflecting a Filipino cultural value that we hold dear,” said Anne Muñoz, TELUS International Philippines Country Vice-President. “It takes a village to educate our youth, and we are fortunate to collaborate with teachers, parents, barangay officials, and the government to support local students and schools.”

This dedication to volunteerism and community support enhances access to education, helping more students achieve their academic and career goals. “By equipping these students for their future academic journeys or careers, we contribute to improving their lives and those of their families,” added Muñoz.

Since 2014, TELUS International Philippines team members have dedicated over 86,000 hours supporting Brigada Eskwela in various schools.
