3 OPM Talents Unite for One-Night Concert: “By Request: Your Playlist Live Onstage”

For the first time ever, three of the Philippines’ finest talentsDessa, Troy Laureta, and DK Tijam—will share the stage in a highly anticipated one-night concert titled “By Request: Your Playlist Live Onstage.” The event will take place on August 16 at 8 PM at the Music Museum, bringing together fans and music lovers for a night of unforgettable performances.

Organized by DK Talents and Orange Magazine, in collaboration with Backstage Entertainment, this concert promises to be a musical spectacle. Although Dessa and DK have performed together before, including shows in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, this event marks their first collaboration with Troy Laureta, who is known for his work on the successful “Harana” concert series featuring Martin Nievera and other notable artists.

Dessa reflects on her bond with DK, which began during the pandemic. “I met DK Tijam during those tough times when we were both streaming online, and we became very close on Kumu. Now, we’re best of friends,” Dessa shares. She also speaks fondly of her connection with Troy, whom she met through direct messages. “We performed together in LA, and I was part of his recent ‘Harana’ concert. Our friendship grew from there.”

For this special concert, DK, Dessa, and Troy will perform a mix of classic OPM songs, beautiful love song medleys, and some of Dessa’s original tracks. The trio promises duets and production numbers that the audience will surely enjoy.

Dessa expresses her gratitude for the opportunity to continue doing what she loves. “Thank God, I’m still busy with gigs in the US, almost every weekend. On weekdays, I’m occupied with family and my small online business selling pre-loved bags. I’m also studying to become an insurance agent here in Nevada,” she adds.

Troy Laureta, who first discovered DK through his soulful online performances, is excited to share the stage with him for the first time. “I’ve known about DK from Kumu and his online covers. This will be my first time performing with him,” Troy reveals. He also speaks highly of Dessa, whom he has known through TFC and their previous collaborations. “We’ve put together a setlist that showcases each artist’s voice and versatility while staying true to our authentic styles.”

As the musical director for the concert, Troy is committed to curating a diverse and eclectic selection of songs that reflect the artists’ contributions to the OPM and entertainment world.

Troy is currently the musical director for Singaporean artist JJ Lin’s world tour and is preparing for his headlining “Harana” tour, which will feature artists from around the globe performing OPM classics and beloved Western hits. The tour is set to launch in October, with plans to bring “Harana” to Manila soon.

DK Tijam, who gained recognition as a finalist in the first “Star in a Million” in 2003, has never strayed far from the music scene, even after migrating to Canada. “Star in a Million has a special place in my heart,” DK says. “It introduced me to Philippine TV, and I’m touched that people still recognize me from the show. Music has always been a part of my life, and even when I almost gave it up in 2010, I realized that my passion for music is synonymous with my existence.”

After moving to Canada in 2006, DK faced the challenges of living away from his family and friends. However, he eventually embraced his new life and now looks forward to focusing on his music career. “This year, I had an epiphany. If I don’t focus on music now, when will I? Life is fleeting, so it’s best to seize the day and do what we love the most.”

Joining Dessa, Troy, and DK on stage for “By Request” are special guests Kayleigh Cerezo, Keeana Cerezo, Antoinette Targa, Chelsea Star, and Bella Magbag from DK Talents.
