The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Philippines is set to kick off its 14th season with significant tournament updates. Running from August 16 to October 6, 2024, Season 14 will be hosted at the new venue, Green Sun in Makati. Matches will take place on Fridays and Sundays at 5 pm, and on Saturdays at 2:30 pm.

With the theme “Heroes Within,” MPL PH Season 14 focuses on a journey of self-discovery, bringing the spotlight back to the competition in the largest MLBB esports tournament. It celebrates what it truly means to succeed in one of the most competitive leagues in the world while acknowledging the community’s vital role in the growth of MLBB esports in the Philippines.

Unprecedented Competition MPL PH Season 14 promises to be the most thrilling yet, with the entry of the Serbian esports organization Aurora. This season also marks the return of notable Filipino imports like MP The King and Dlar, who previously competed in MPL Cambodia and MPL Indonesia, respectively.

The tournament has also introduced a new scoring system to intensify the competition. Each team will face off in two best-of-three (BO3) matches against the other seven teams. Rankings will be determined by points: a team that wins 2-0 will earn 1 point; a team that wins 2-1 will also earn 1 point; however, teams that lose 1-2 or 0-2 will receive no points.

Enhancing Regular Season Significance

In Season 14, the importance of Regular Season placement has been amplified, giving top teams significant advantages. Notably, the Lower Bracket Finals in the MPL Philippines Season 14 Playoffs will now be a best-of-seven (BO7) series instead of the previous best-of-five (BO5), ensuring that the most deserving team secures the final slot in the Grand Finals.

Global Open Transfer System

The league has introduced a global open transfer system, allowing mid-season transfers within the entire MLBB Esports ecosystem. This means MPL PH teams can now recruit, release, or trade players with one another during the transfer window, including overseas players and free agents. The system also extends to transfers between MPL and MDL teams, offering more flexibility and strategic options for all participants.

Revamped Alamat Awards

The Alamat Awards, which celebrate the top players and key figures in the MLBB esports scene, have been revamped with enhanced award categories. Starting this season, the league will honor the entire coaching staff—not just the head coach—for their exceptional leadership, strategies, and impact on their team’s performance.

New award categories have also been introduced, including ALL-STAR Team 1 & 2, Fans’ Choice, and Most Improved Player of the Season. The MVP award has been expanded into three categories: MVP of the Game, MVP of the Match, and MVP of the Week.

Bringing the MPL PH Community Closer

MPL PH is reintroducing the MPL Smart Battle Trips, an initiative that invites MLBB communities from cities, schools, and workplaces to visit the MPL PH arena and experience the action live. In collaboration with MLBB Community Heroes and Student Leaders (CHSL), the league will bring around 40 students and community members from Luzon to watch the tournament in person. Workshops will also be held to introduce participants to the opportunities available in the esports and gaming industry.

Additionally, the league will host the first-ever MPL Infinix FANSiklaban, where fans can represent their favorite teams in a mini-MPL league, all while supporting a good cause. More details on this event will be shared soon.
