Mang Inasal, renowned as the Philippines’ Grill Expert, participated as a food exhibitor at the inaugural United Nations Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Asia and the Pacific, hosted by the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT). The event took place on June 26 at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort in Cebu City.
Organized by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Basque Culinary Center, and the DOT, the Gastronomy Tourism Forum attracted around four hundred participants, including ministers from UN member-states, affiliate members, and tourism stakeholders from international organizations.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco emphasized, “We firmly believe that food plays a pivotal role in enriching the Philippine cultural experience.” Meanwhile, the UNWTO highlighted that “the First UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Asia and the Pacific aimed to serve as a platform to celebrate the influence of gastronomy tourism and harness its transformative potential for the benefit of local communities and the environment.”
At the forum, delegates enjoyed a themed lunch titled “Tripping the Philippines,” showcasing diverse delicacies from across the country. Mang Inasal was prominently featured as the sole restaurant brand in the exhibit.
“We are thankful to DOT for including Mang Inasal in this significant event,” expressed Mang Inasal president Mike V. Castro. “We ensured our international guests experienced the essence of ‘Ihaw-Sarap’ (deliciously grilled) by offering them our Solo Fiesta, a package featuring the best of Philippine flavors including our Chicken Inasal, Pork BBQ, Lumpiang Togue, Palabok, and Java Rice.”
