KAIA has officially unveiled the music video for their latest single, “You Did It.” Directed by Raymond “Pabi” Fabian and Francis “Kiko” Magundayao, the visuals signify the group’s evolution from their debut years to a more confident and refined phase. The video also narrates the origin of the dragonfly, symbolizing their journey as a Filipino girl group navigating the competitive music industry landscape.
As depicted in the MV, KAIA, with their wings spread, embarks on a journey to explore new horizons. The P-Pop group reveals their increased involvement in the music video’s concept, embracing darker themes and drawing inspiration from personal experiences.
“We enjoy being part of the creative process as it allows us to interpret our songs more deeply and perform with greater passion,” shares the Dalawa act in a press statement. “We ensured that every aspect, from costumes to set design and facial expressions, resonated with the music’s theme. Our aim was to enhance the song’s message through visuals, so we dedicated extra effort to this MV.”
KAIA acknowledges their MV directors, “Pabi” and “Kiko,” for their immense creativity and collaborative approach to visual storytelling. The acclaimed pop act commends their directors for translating their vision seamlessly, making the production process smooth and enjoyable.
“They captured our vision perfectly, making us feel at ease and confident on set. This allowed us to focus on our performances while they handled the broader picture. It was a collaborative effort of which we are extremely proud,” they explain.
“You Did It” is a dance-pop track infused with Persian-style instrumentation and modern pop sensibilities. Produced by Oh-won Lee, Michael James Down, Will Taylor, and Primoz Poglajen, with lyrics by Jonell “J.O” Sarmiento, formerly of Z2Z, KAIA also contributed to the track’s overall concept and narrative.
Through “You Did It,” KAIA aims to be a voice for those unable to speak up or lack the courage to stand up for themselves. “We hope that when people listen to the song, they feel more confident and empowered,” concludes the spirited collective.
