PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and Cignal TV have pledged their support for the Philippines’ historic hosting of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, set to take place from September 12 to 28, 2025.

As the country’s largest telco network, PLDT will serve as the official broadband partner for the championship, while Cignal TV, the pay TV arm of the MediaQuest Group, will be the event’s official broadcaster.

Manuel V Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of PLDT, expressed excitement about the opportunity to inspire a new generation of Filipino athletes and to showcase the nation’s fervor for sports. “The Philippines is now taking center stage in the world of volleyball. We look forward to collaborating with the DOT and the PNVF to deliver an exceptional experience for fans worldwide,” he said.

The Philippines makes history as the inaugural sole host of the largest men’s volleyball tournament globally. This edition marks the most extensive FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship yet, accommodating 32 teams as the tournament format expands. The sport has seen a rapid surge in popularity across the Philippines in recent years, fueled by a fervent fanbase backing fiercely competitive leagues like Spikers’ Turf, Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League.

“As Filipinos, we recognize the enormity of hosting top-tier teams and fans from across the globe. However, we are confident in our ability to provide the optimal environment for everyone to compete at the highest level right here on our home turf,” remarked PNVF president Ramon Suzara.

Preparations for the Philippine men’s national volleyball team will kick off with a thorough selection process for the player pool and the introduction of a new team name. In addition to its support for the national team, PLDT played a pivotal role as a key partner in the successful staging of the 2023 Volleyball Nations League in Manila.
