Trisha Denise, a renowned singer-songwriter from ABS-CBN, recently took a trip down memory lane as she shared her songwriting journey. She recounted how her passion for songwriting opened doors for her to collaborate with various well-known recording artists in the industry.
Among Trisha’s notable compositions are “Unbreakable” by Regine Velasquez and Moira Dela Torre, “Get It Poppin” by Pops Fernandez, “Somber and Solemn” by Belle Mariano, and many others.
During the recent “Simula ng Wakas” EP celebration, Trisha expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to write songs for these icons and legends. She said, “It’s a humbling experience to be entrusted with writing songs for these icons and legends because I usually just write by myself in my room, and only a few people in the studio would hear it. Then suddenly, the record label would release it, so the responsibility keeps growing. But I’m so grateful for the trust given to me.”
Trisha discovered her musical talent when she learned to play the guitar and started writing songs, which eventually led to various opportunities.
“Once I started writing my own songs, I fell in love with it, so I pursued it through college. I also joined songwriting competitions until I landed my first published song for Janella Salvador’s debut album,” Trisha shared.
As a recording artist, Trisha released her first single, “Mahalaga,” from the “Between Maybes” soundtrack. This was followed by her debut album, “Piece of the Puzzle,” featuring songs like “Liliwanag,” “Ika’y Mamahalin,” and “Mamahalin.”
Last year, she made a comeback with the EP “Simula Ng Wakas,” featuring six songs that convey the message of letting go of painful emotions and embracing new beginnings in life.
“It tells the story of having a painful past and the transformation to welcome new beginnings. It’s for people who are looking for a fresh start in their lives,” Trisha explained.
For Trisha, her music becomes more vibrant because of the personal stories and experiences she pours into her songs.
“My music is defined by the raw feelings and emotions that I write about. It’s more about personal stories,” she said.
