Toyota Motor Philippines introduces popular crossover’s all-HEV lineup
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially unveiled the latest iteration of the country’s top-selling Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) model, the Toyota Corolla Cross, now enhanced and refined for even greater performance.
Originally introduced in 2020 as TMP’s inaugural hybrid electric crossover alongside its conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) counterparts, the 2024 Corolla Cross now exclusively offers an all-HEV lineup.
During the launch event held at SM Aura in Taguig City, TMP President Masando Hashimoto underscored the Corolla Cross’s pivotal role in Toyota’s mission to promote sustainable mobility solutions.
“The Corolla Cross, the Philippines’ premier hybrid crossover, has played a significant role in advancing electrification in the country. While TMP pioneered hybrid technology back in 2009, it was with the introduction of the Corolla Cross in 2020 that we began achieving triple-digit annual sales figures for xEVs. Last year alone, TMP recorded 7,203 Lexus and Toyota xEV sales.”
“By the end of February 2024, over 4,000 electrified Corolla Cross vehicles were already traversing Philippine roads, contributing to a total of more than 13,000 customers who have embraced electrified Toyota and Lexus models since the inception of our electrification efforts,” he added.
With a starting price of PHP 1,498,000 for the G HEV variant, the new Corolla Cross further diversifies TMP’s portfolio of accessible and dependable electrified vehicles, underscoring its unwavering dedication to mainstreaming the electrified lifestyle among Filipino consumers.
ELECTRIFYING STYLE & FUNCTION
In the latest iteration of the Corolla Cross, both the V HEV and G HEV variants showcase a striking mesh-like grille adorned with hexagonal outlines. Meanwhile, the GR-S HEV variant maintains the sleek and stylish front facade seen in the previous Corolla Cross GR-S HEV model.
The latest enhancements include LED headlamps with automatic high beam (AHB) and sequential turn signals for both the V HEV and GR-S HEV variants, while the G HEV variant has been upgraded from halogen to LED lamps.
In addition, the V HEV variant now shares with the GR-S HEV variant a power back door equipped with a kick sensor for added convenience. For an elevated premium experience, the top-tier GR-S HEV variant features a panoramic view monitor camera and a panoramic moonroof.
Inside, all variants boast LED interior lamps and a leather steering wheel. Furthermore, the traditional foot brake has been replaced with an electronic parking brake (EPB) across all models.
The latest Corolla Cross models offer an array of convenience features, including a 12.3-inch fully digital multi-information display (MID) for the GR-S HEV. The V HEV is equipped with a 7-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) MID, while the G HEV features a 4.2-inch TFT MID.
Moreover, all three variants come with a 10-inch display audio system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, along with a built-in wireless charger for hassle-free smartphone charging while on the move.
POWER & SAFETY IN ONE PACKAGE
Both the GR-S and V variants come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), comprising essential features like Pre-Collision System (PCS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Additionally, all variants boast active safety measures such as Emergency Brake Signal (EBS), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
The latest Corolla Cross runs on a hybrid 4-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve DOHC engine with chain drive and VVT-i technology, paired with a CVT transmission. This hybrid setup combines the performance of a traditional engine with the efficiency of an electric motor, offering drivers an environmentally conscious driving experience and paving the way towards a carbon-neutral future.
Boasting a striking exterior design, a wealth of convenience features, and impressive fuel economy, the new Corolla Cross presents an appealing option for individuals seeking stylish and efficient transportation for their daily journeys.
The new Corolla Cross is offered in three variants: the GR-S HEV starting at PHP 1,917,000; the V HEV starting at PHP 1,763,000; and the G HEV starting at PHP 1,498,000. Available color options include:

KEEPING THE COROLLA LEGACY
Hashimoto emphasized that the enhancements made to the Corolla Cross are part of a broader effort to uphold and evolve the esteemed Corolla brand.
“The Corolla stands as Toyota’s best-selling nameplate worldwide. Since its debut in 1966, approximately 50 million units have been sold across 150 countries, including the Philippines,” Hashimoto noted.
“The Corolla’s legacy continues to unfold, and with its pivotal role in achieving carbon neutrality, we are committed to ensuring that the Corolla remains cherished by future generations,” he added.
In addition to the Corolla Cross, TMP offers the Corolla Altis sedan, which, in 2019, marked TMP’s first mainstream nameplate to feature an HEV variant.
TMP’s lineup of HEV offerings also includes the Camry, RAV4, Alphard, and Yaris Cross.
