Climate change is a global issue affecting not only the Philippines but the entire world. Its adverse effects are already being felt, prompting urgent action from the international community to address environmental challenges. Recognizing the pressing need, Sharp Corporation, through its Philippine arm, has devised Eco Vision 2050, a comprehensive environmental strategy focusing on resource recycling, safety, security, and climate change mitigation. This vision aims to integrate with the community, minimizing the environmental footprint of its operations.
In alignment with Eco Vision 2050, Sharp Philippines Corporation has launched the “Caring for the Next Generation” campaign. One of its initiatives, “Be Sharp, Plant a Tree for a Greener Future,” will run from March 15 to June 15, 2024. The goal is to plant a thousand trees, contributing to a healthier planet and combatting climate change.
Partnering with the Nature Awareness & Conservation Club, Inc., affiliated with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Sharp Philippines will support social and environmental responsibility programs. These include mangrove and upland tree planting activities, aligning with DENR’s Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP), benefiting local fishing communities and farmers.
As part of this campaign, Sharp Philippines will plant a mangrove tree for every Sharp refrigerator purchased. Mangrove planting will take place during the low tide season from April to June 2024, at designated coastal sites in Bataan and Batangas. These trees will provide coastal protection, marine habitats, and carbon sequestration, mitigating climate change impacts.
Customers participating in the campaign can request an electronic certificate by registering on Sharp Philippines’ official website. Additionally, those interested in joining the tree planting can communicate through the company’s Facebook page. Volunteers are welcomed to contribute to this environmental initiative.
