EastWest, as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, is excited to announce the return of the Magenta Race, coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In partnership with the Kasuso Foundation, this event follows last year’s successful initiative, showcasing the caring spirit of EastWestbankers nationwide.
The Magenta Race serves as both a tribute to breast cancer warriors and survivors and a proactive effort to raise awareness, promote early detection, and stand united against this prevalent disease. Featuring walk/run and bike categories, the race welcomes participants of all fitness levels to join, celebrate life, and contribute to this noble cause.
“We believe in making a meaningful impact beyond banking. Supporting initiatives that uplift the community is deeply ingrained in our values. We’re proud to bring back the Magenta Race, especially after the recognition received from Digital Banker for our exceptional CSR efforts,” stated EastWest Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications, Ms. CJ Roque.
With breast cancer being the most common cancer among Filipino women and EastWest having a significant female workforce, breast health remains a crucial cause for the institution. The program aims to empower women with knowledge about breast cancer through awareness programs, early detection initiatives, and information on where to seek support. It also encourages altruism among employees by providing opportunities to contribute to charitable causes, offering financial aid for underprivileged Filipina women’s early detection through CSR partner Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc. (PFBCI), and fostering ongoing CSR partnerships while exploring collaborations with other charitable institutions. Additionally, it aims to inspire employees toward healthier, more active lifestyles.
To add an exciting dimension, EastWestbankers can show support by purchasing Magenta Race T-shirts, with proceeds benefiting the Kasuso Foundation, reinforcing EastWest’s commitment to driving change and making a tangible difference. The Race commenced on October 13 with 119 runners and 29 cyclists, with more expected to join.
Beyond the race, the event includes health checks and informative symposiums on breast cancer prevention and awareness, facilitated by Intellicare, EastWest’s trusted Health Maintenance Organization partner. Attendees can gain valuable knowledge alongside creating lasting memories.
EastWest urges its Bankers and the wider community to participate by joining the race, purchasing T-shirts, or supporting various fundraising activities. Every step, pedal, and contribution makes a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
The program’s features, like the Magenta Race Virtual Challenge to Fight Breast Cancer – Virtual Walk, Run, and Bike Ride, Breast Health Care Campaign, and fundraising activities, are open to all and are expected to leave a lasting impact, akin to last year’s efforts.
Last year’s Magenta Race was a resounding success, engaging 145 athletes, selling 1,192 shirts, and donating Php380,000 to the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc. EastWest was honored with the Best CSR Initiative at The Digital Banker Global Retail Banking Innovation Awards 2023 for its efforts.
Continuing this momentum, EastWest invites everyone to join in the race for hope, health, and healing!
