Following the resounding success of its inaugural edition last year, the Gateway Art Fair returns for its second installment in a larger venue, featuring an even greater number of participating artists.
With the theme “Bridge Connections,” this year’s art fair is set to take place from October 5 to 8 at the Quantum Skyview of the New Gateway Mall 2. Organized by the J. Amado Araneta Foundation (JAAF)’s Gateway Gallery to coincide with Museums and Galleries Month, this four-day event aims to serve as a platform for showcasing the talents of local artists, art groups, and communities.
The 2023 Gateway Art Fair boasts a total of 14 art exhibitors, five participating schools, and five merchants, all congregated to express their creative talents through art. In addition to the art displays, the event features shops and services offering their artistic and creative products.
The grand opening ceremony took place on October 5 and was attended by art exhibitors, art groups, art suppliers, art enthusiasts, representatives from the Quezon City tourism department, as well as executives from JAAF and Araneta City. The ceremony was led by Jerry Yapo, Director at the University of the Philippines Los Banos Office for Initiatives in Culture and Arts; Ma. Teresa Tirona, Head of the Quezon City Tourism Department; Diane Romero, Executive Director of JAAF; Lorna Fabian, VP for Leasing at Araneta City; and Gregorio Apolonio, Gateway Gallery Curator.
The 2023 Gateway Art Fair showcases a diverse array of exhibitors, including Artists for Peace, DryBrush Gallery, Artipolo Art Group, Vice Versa of Batangas, Benedict Abigan, Pinta Pinay, Nanola Art Gallery, Lucban Arts Guild, Hubog Sining, Jaspreet Kaur, Marie Claire De Guzman, Thombayan Art Space, Art Show Philippines, and Arthenticity. Art merchants include Gateway Gallery Museum Shop, Jess Navarro, Law of Artraction, Rhea’s Bag, and QC Artist Circle.
Participating schools in the event include Miriam College Applied Art Society, Feati University, University of the Philippines – College of Fine Arts, University of Santo Tomas, and the Philippine Women’s University.
To enhance the art fair experience, daily art demonstrations will be conducted by some of the most promising Filipino art groups and artists. The 2023 Gateway Art Fair is open to the public free of charge from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. daily.
