The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, the marketing and promotions arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), is set to host the 12th Regional Travel Fair (RTF) in the picturesque Ilocos region. This exciting event is scheduled to take place from October 13 to 15, 2023, offering businesses and consumers a delightful opportunity to explore the region’s finest offerings.
The RTF stands as one of TPB’s flagship events, held in various parts of the country, enabling host regions to showcase their rich local culture and distinctive tourism attractions to the public.
Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles, TPB Chief Operating Officer, shared her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The 12th Regional Travel Fair is a fantastic opportunity for people to discover the wonders of the Ilocos region. This fair allows both businesses and consumers to uncover the unique treasures that await them in the northwestern part of our country. I invite everyone to be part of this significant tourism event, so we can collectively explore the diverse facets of Ilocos.”
The event’s first day will feature an onsite Business-to-Business session, bringing together a minimum of 50 local buyers and 70 sellers/exhibitors. This B2B session serves as a platform for both buyers and sellers to foster travel-related business collaborations and expand their networks in the region. Furthermore, participants will embark on a post-event tour designed to familiarize them with the various attractions found in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.
A two-day Business-to-Consumer (B2C) fair will be held at Robinsons Laoag, allowing local consumers to avail themselves of tourism offerings. Visitors can access discounted domestic tour packages, airline tickets, accommodations, and various other tourism-related products and services. Additionally, the fair will feature exciting activities that showcase the allure of the Ilocos region, including product demonstrations by local artisans, delectable samples of regional cuisine, live product sales, and informative interviews.
TPB COO Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles emphasized the rich heritage of the Ilocos region, noting, “The Ilocos region deserves the spotlight for the 12th Regional Travel Fair because it is rich with well-preserved historical sites and pristine natural attractions.”
Ilocos Norte beckons adventurous travelers with its majestic sand dunes, while San Juan in La Union is a haven for surf enthusiasts in Luzon. Vigan City in Ilocos Sur offers a charming journey into the past with its Spanish colonial architecture, and Pangasinan dazzles visitors with its centuries-old churches and white-sand beaches.
