“Asian Persuasion” has achieved the esteemed Audience Award for Best Full-Length Film at the renowned Soho International Film Festival. This remarkable festival unfolded on September 21, 2023, at Fushimi Times Square in Manhattan, creating a vibrant platform for cinematic excellence. Moreover, the film was among the select eight nominees in contention for the title of Best U.S. Showcase Feature Film.
“Asian Persuasion,” marking the directorial debut of Jhett Tolentino, a distinguished Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway producer, is co-produced by Jhett Tolentino and Mike Ang. This film also marks Mike Ang’s inaugural venture into screenwriting. The ensemble cast of this film boasts renowned talents, including Dante Basco (“Hook,” “The Fabulous Filipino Brothers”), KC Concepcion (“For the First Time”), Paolo Montalban (“Cinderella”), and Kevin Kreider (“Bling Empire”).

The film unfolds the whimsical tale of a down-on-his-luck chef, Mickey de Los Santos (Dante Basco), who, in cahoots with his best friend Caspian (Kevin Kreider), concocts a zany scheme to help his ex-wife, Avery Chua (KC Concepcion), find a new suitor via a fabricated online dating profile. Their objective is to arrange her remarriage and thus avoid Mickey’s substantial alimony payments.
“Asian Persuasion” is set to grace screens across the United States in the near future, with screenings scheduled at the Richmond International Film Festival on September 28, 2023, and the San Diego Filipino Film Festival on October 8, 2023.
