On September 11, 2023, in Manila, Philippines, Coco Martin, hailed as the Primetime King, conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the steadfast viewers of ABS-CBN’s immensely popular primetime teleserye, “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.” He offered a sneak peek of the series’ forthcoming chapter through an official trailer, which, remarkably, garnered over 10 million online views in less than 24 hours.
“We are committed to creating a show that we know will bring joy to our viewers every night. We don’t want to skimp on the love we have for our audience. I truly appreciate their love and support,” shared Coco, who also serves as one of the directors and producers of the series, during an interview with “TV Patrol.”
Coco expressed his admiration for his fellow actors in the series, including the new additions, Jaclyn Jose and Ivana Alawi, acknowledging their dedication to their roles.
“I am delighted to see the support of my fellow actors in every scene we shoot. I am grateful because this teleserye serves as a means for us to communicate with people and bring happiness and inspiration every night,” Coco shared.
As the new chapter of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” unfolds, viewers were treated to an extensive glimpse of what lies ahead in a captivating trailer lasting over five minutes. This marked the first time Coco has released an official trailer for a new season of a TV series.
Coco’s co-stars tantalized viewers with hints of unexpected plot twists and action-packed revelations set to unfold in the new chapter.
“I’m just so thrilled about the different turn of events, especially when we shot the trailer. I’m excited to share the screen with these wonderful actors, and I’m also excited to have scenes with Ivana,” expressed Lovi Poe, who will be part of a love triangle involving Coco’s character, Tanggol, and Ivana’s new character.
Ivana, on the other hand, shared that her character embodies dual roles that will add excitement to Tanggol’s love life.
“I’m super excited because it’s my first time portraying this kind of character and also engaging in action. Look forward to a completely different Ivana and a unique character unlike any I’ve played before. This is something new, and I believe you’ll enjoy it,” she said.
Jaclyn Jose expressed her gratitude for being part of the stellar cast of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” and aspired to match the level of acting displayed by her esteemed co-stars, including Charo Santos, Cherry Pie Picache, and Christopher de Leon, among others.
“When I’m not included in Coco’s soap, it feels like my journey as an actress isn’t complete. We need to keep up and, if possible, match the heights of all the characters here because indeed, every character is formidable,” she shared.
Meanwhile, netizens are already eagerly anticipating the thrilling twists in the series. The “Bagong Yugto” trailer has sparked numerous memes on social media. A post about Susan Africa’s character’s transformation from rags to riches garnered 163,000 engagements and inspired several memes.
“After three decades, she’s no longer coughing. The world is healing! It’s the first time Susan Africa’s role isn’t impoverished and coughing,” read the post, generating positive and humorous reactions from netizens, including popular influencer Macoy Dubs.
“Ms. Susan Africa in her most Rockwell Plantita role,” Macoy commented. “Miss Susan Africa after taking Robitussin chiiiiii.”
Netizens also expressed joy and satisfaction upon witnessing the scene in which Christopher De Leon’s character, Ramon, exposes David’s (Mccoy De Leon) true identity. This left viewers thrilled as Tanggol entered the scene during the confrontation. However, some netizens voiced skepticism that this long-awaited moment might turn out to be nothing more than a dream sequence.
“Finally, our frustration with that David character will come to an end, hahaha, you’re in trouble now,” @remuel004 posted about Mccoy De Leon’s apparent demise as David. “I hope this isn’t just David’s dream!! I’m so fed up with David’s arrogance and rigor,” @Maryella1703 said.
