As the deadline of July 25 approaches, Globe has launched a creative campaign aimed at emphasizing the importance of complying with the SIM Registration Act to safeguard consumers from online dangers.

Dubbed the “Number Mo, Identity Mo” campaign, Globe leverages humor to convey its message by having talented stand-up comedians and improv artists playfully “hack” the online identities of popular celebrities, Kuya Kim Atienza and Kiray Celis.

The campaign addresses the pressing issue of online safety in today’s digital age, underscoring the significance of protecting our SIM cards as a vital aspect of our digital identity. Globe urges its prepaid customers to register their SIMs before the July 25 deadline, stressing the urgency of this action.

Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer of Globe Group, shares the motivation behind the initiative, hoping that the distinctive approach will effectively drive home the importance of SIM registration. Globe seeks to empower its customers to take charge of their online security and avoid falling victim to fraudulent activities.

To facilitate the registration process, Globe provides multiple avenues for its customers. Prepaid users of Globe and TM, as well as Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi customers, can register via the GlobeOne app and the dedicated SIM registration microsite. Fully-verified GCash account holders also have the option to register using the GCash app. For those needing assistance, Globe Stores and EasyHubs nationwide are ready to offer support for SIM registration.

Notably, Globe Postpaid, Globe Business Postpaid, and Globe Platinum subscribers are already included in the SIM registration database. Additionally, measures have been taken for company-owned Globe Business prepaid accounts, with steps for registration or updating details sent to authorized company representatives.

Through this engaging and informative campaign, Globe aims to create awareness about the importance of SIM registration and to ensure the safety and security of its valued customers in the digital realm.

Celebrity accounts ‘hacked’

The ingenious approach to promoting online safety commenced with enigmatic teaser posts on Kiray and Kuya Kim’s active social media accounts, culminating in an engaging TikTok LIVE session. In this captivating event, skilled impersonators amusingly showcased obvious scams to the audience, cleverly highlighting the lurking dangers of the digital world.

The impostor portraying Kiray led her followers on a captivating transformation journey, promising a luxurious and more beautiful version of the beloved comedienne. The act culminated in a live selling event and an intriguing “face reveal.” Simultaneously, Kuya Kim’s impersonator tantalizingly alluded to recent television show developments, offering juicy behind-the-scenes secrets, lifestyle tips, and a surprise guest, all designed to pique curiosity.

However, the true purpose behind these entertaining acts was unveiled two days after the livestream, as Kuya Kim and Kiray uploaded a video disclosing that their accounts had been ‘hacked.’ This unexpected twist drove home the important message: online identity theft is a genuine threat, and everyone must take proactive steps to protect themselves, including registering their SIMs.

With this campaign, Globe reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promoting online safety. The company has been conducting various SIM registration drives since December 2022, and this latest initiative adds a creative flair, emphasizing that “your SIM is more than a number – it’s an extension of your identity.” By registering their SIMs, customers can significantly safeguard their digital identity from potential scams.
