Earlier this year, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) obtained licenses for four captivating films from Belgium, Austria, Cambodia, and the United Kingdom. These films are now slated for commercial release in collaboration with Ayala Cinemas, scheduled to run from July 26 to 30.
Through the joint efforts of the FDCP’s Audience Development Program and Ayala Cinemas’ The A-List Series, the aim is to make acclaimed films more accessible to movie enthusiasts under the banner of “A-List Series Presents: FDCP World Cinema.”
Through this exciting partnership, the FDCP and Ayala Cinemas will introduce world cinema titles to the Filipino audience. The initial selection includes films that have garnered numerous accolades from esteemed film festivals and award ceremonies.
Ayala Cinemas, along with select venues such as Cinema ’76 and FDCP Cinematheque Centres, will be screening a lineup of esteemed films that have received recognition at the Cannes Film Festival. These include “Aftersun,” directed by Charlotte Wells, “Close,” directed by Lukas Dhont, “Corsage,” directed by Marie Kreutzer, and “Return to Seoul,” directed by Davy Chou. These screenings will take place in various locations, including Metro Manila, Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Nabunturan, and Negros.
In a statement, Tirso Cruz III, the Chairman and CEO of FDCP, expressed pride in presenting these award-winning films from around the world. He assured viewers that they would have a remarkable experience while watching these films and hoped that they would serve as a source of inspiration, deepening their appreciation for profound cinematic artistry.
Beyond its goal of enticing audiences back to the theaters, this program aims to expose moviegoers to a diverse selection of films that will broaden their horizons and enrich their cinematic experiences.
