In a momentous celebration held at the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NCHP) Presidential Car Museum in Quezon City on June 11, 2023, Project Saysay Inc. marked its 10th founding anniversary. This significant milestone coincided with the commemoration of the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood 2023-2026. The event served as an occasion to honor the partners and benefactors who have contributed to the success of Project Saysay over the past decade, including the esteemed Mama Sita Foundation.
The Mama Sita Foundation, recognized as a steadfast ally of Project Saysay, received well-deserved appreciation for its consistent support. As the main sponsor of the event, the foundation generously sponsored cocktails and tokens for the honorees, select individuals, and institutions being recognized. This contribution showcased Mama Sita’s commitment to promoting Filipino heritage and flavors during the 10th Anniversary celebration of Project Saysay, known as “Pasasalamat.”
As an embodiment of culinary excellence and tradition, Mama Sita’s artisanal products added a delightful taste of heritage to the event. The venue also featured the all-natural Mama Sita’s vinegar, aligning with the Mama Sita Foundation’s advocacy of supporting coconut farmers.
Through their participation in the 10th Anniversary of Project Saysay, the Mama Sita Foundation showcased their dedication to preserving Filipino cultural heritage, while also contributing to the welfare of local farmers.
Project Saysay names new 10 honorees
The Pasasalamat event, commemorating the 10th Anniversary of Project Saysay, was marked by the unveiling of 10 new portraits and prototype poster designs. These captivating artworks showcased notable honorees who have made significant contributions to Philippine history. Among the featured figures were Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos, Jaime de Veyra, National Scientist Fe del Mundo, Jose Petronio Katigbak, Tarhata Kiram, Maria Orosa, National Artist Ramon Muzones, Justice Norberto Romualdez, Rosa Sevilla Alvero, and Aurelio Tolentino. Each honoree represents diverse fields and regions, highlighting their invaluable role in shaping the nation’s identity.
Project Saysay, Inc., a non-governmental youth organization, takes pride in its vision to actively promote and visualize Philippine history. With a mission to disseminate relevant and inspiring information through print and online platforms, the organization has successfully distributed quality posters to Philippine schools both locally and internationally. Additionally, Project Saysay has developed online materials that are accurate, shareable, and attuned to the needs of the times. It has also created platforms for creative expression and academic exchanges related to history and culture.
The momentous event was spearheaded by Congressman Christopher Vera Perez de Venecia and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, both known for their dedication to fostering creativity in the Legislative and Executive branches of the government. The program also welcomed esteemed guests such as National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, former DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, DepEd Usec. Analyn Sevilla, National Youth Commission Executive Director Lea Villalon, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office Deputy Administrator Asec. Restituto Aguilar, Mama Sita Foundation President Clara Reyes-Lapus, and descendants of the heroes featured in the posters. As a grand finale, composer Kent Charcos performed “Samot-Saring Iisa,” the official theme song of the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.
