Globe and Rotary Club of Makati Business District join forces support Hapag Movement

P3M in funds donated to #UnitedFightVsHunger

On Tuesday, Globe, a leading digital solutions platform, announced a four-year partnership with the Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD) to support its hunger alleviation program, The Hapag Movement. The partnership was sealed in a ceremony at The Globe Tower in BGC, Taguig City, attended by Yoly Crisanto, Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, RCMBD Charter President Mache Torres Ackerman, and Rachel Harisson, Spokesperson and Hapag Movement Project Manager for RCMBD. The partnership also involves Kyäni Philippines and renowned chef Jessie Sincioco, President and CEO of The Manna Cuisine Corporation.

RCMBD has pledged to raise P10 million in funds for the Hapag Movement through various initiatives involving the different Rotary Clubs and its District, individual, and corporate members nationwide. RCMBD is now one of Hapag Movement’s longest-term fundraising partners, and at the event, P3 million was donated to the Hapag Movement, the largest single donation it has received to date. This amount includes P1 million each from RCMBD, Kyäni, and Ackerman, who made the donation in her personal capacity.

Globe’s Hapag Movement aims to address the fundamental problem of involuntary hunger affecting thousands of Filipino families. The program provides supplemental feeding and livelihood training and is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9. The initiative aims to benefit 100,000 families in its four-year course, and so far, it has raised P13.5 million in donations through the help of partners such as Kumu, AMDOCS, and the SM Advantage Card (SMAC). It has also impacted at least 10,000 families through its mobilization partners, including the Ayala Foundation, Caritas Philippines, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines, and World Vision.

Under the partnership, the Rotary chapter will be tapping its corporate and individual members, alongside their vast network as drivers of the program. The RCMBD chapter is also tapping Rotary members in Cebu and Davao to help drive fundraising efforts in the Visayas and Mindanao. They will work together to push the Hapag Movement in the South. The partnership is a united fight against involuntary hunger, leveraging partnerships to raise funds and deliver critical support for affected families.
