SAFC, a prominent finance company in the Philippines, teamed up with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and Pasig LGU to host a bloodletting event with the theme “Be a Blood Donor, Be a Life Hero” on February 20 and 21, 2023, at the SAFC Head Office in Pasig City.
The initiative was held in honor of National Cancer Prevention Month to promote blood donation and increase public awareness of its importance. Patients with various illnesses, including cancer, require blood to aid in their recovery, making it a crucial resource. By donating blood, volunteers become Life Heroes as they help save lives and offer hope to those in most need of it.
It is inspiring to see how a simple act of donating blood can have a significant impact on the lives of others. The event attracted volunteers from SAFC, Wisefund Finance Corporation, Annapolis Credit Services, Hortaleza Corporation, and Prime Global Corporation, resulting in the saving of 228 lives through the event alone. These numbers underscore the importance of participating in blood donation drives and how, collectively, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
The bloodletting activity is just one of SAFC’s many initiatives under its corporate social responsibility arm, SAFC HEROES, which is committed to giving back to the community in various ways. SAFC aims to create a culture of giving and inspire others to take action towards building a better future for society. By recognizing and supporting community heroes, SAFC hopes to create a ripple effect that will inspire others to take action and make a difference in their unique ways.
Joel C. Cruz, SAFC President and Managing Director, expressed his gratitude to all those who participated in the bloodletting event, saying, “Your generosity and willingness to donate blood are truly commendable. The success of this event is a reminder that we can all make a difference in our communities, no matter how small the act may seem.” Cruz added that SAFC is committed to providing help to those who need it the most, and the SAFC Heroes initiative is a testament to this commitment.
Through this event, volunteers had the opportunity to become Life Heroes and make a significant impact on the lives of those in need. Their selfless act of donating blood will go a long way in saving lives, especially for those who are battling illnesses like cancer.
