To celebrate her 25th anniversary in the music industry, Filipino singer-songwriter Barbie Almalbis has released her Tower Sessions Live album under Sony Music Entertainment and will hold a reunion concert featuring her legendary bands Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle.
The album was produced by Eric and Carlo Perlas of Tower of Doom and recorded by Kyle Cayton, capturing a new arrangement of Almalbis’ old and new songs. It includes some of her most iconic hits such as “Firewoman,” “Torpe,” “Tabing Ilog,” “The Dance,” “Goodnight” and “Just A Smile,” as well as new tracks like “Days Are Long,” “Silaw,” “Tigre,” and “Kumpas,” the album’s carrier single.
Almalbis expressed her joy about the album’s live recording, as her band is always rearranging their songs. She said, “There’s something special that gets captured when we play live together. My producers and collaborators did such a great job of making you feel like you’re at the gig.”
On March 11, Almalbis will headline her 25th anniversary concert at 123 Block, Mandala Park. Dubbed Firewoman: 25 Years of Barbie Almalbis, the event will also feature performances by some of the country’s top acts such as Sandwich, Gab Alipe of Urbandub, Clara Benin, I Belong To The Zoo, Kai del Rio, and Bird. The concert aims to celebrate the impact of Almalbis’ music as a guide in people’s lives and reunite her with her former bandmates.
Barbie Almalbis’ Tower Sessions Live is now available on all digital platforms worldwide under Sony Music Entertainment. Tickets for her upcoming concert can be purchased through TicketMelon. The event is presented by GNN Entertainment Productions, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment, Backspacer Records, JB Music, Nova Wellness Store, D&D, Smirnoff Mule, and 123 Block.
