MT. POLIS
If you’re in for a nature adventure, you might want to try hiking Mt. Polis. This mountain is the third-highest mountain in Ifugao, so hike at your own risk. It is highly advisable to hike with proper attire and equipment to prevent accidents from happening. If you want someone to accompany you while hiking, try hiring a tour guide to help you with your hike.
Mt. Polis is only an hour away from Sagada Town Proper. It is much easier to arrive there if you have your own car. Also, try to hike to Mount Polis as early as possible to get a glimpse of a breathtaking view of the sunrise.
SAGADA WEAVING
Established in 1968, Sagada Weaving is hailed as a Home of Quality Handwoven Products in the province of Sagada. As you arrive here, you will get to see a reflection of their culture through their artistry. You can see the people of Sagada here weaving using their traditional way of weaving. You can also buy here your pasalubongs like bags, slippers, souvenirs, and clothing.
SAGADA POTTERY
Talking about Sagada’s culture, you can also try out Sagada Pottery. Located in the middle of the woods, a small wooden house will catch your attention, and that is Sagada Pottery.
To be at Sagada Pottery is to experience their artistry. Here at Sagada Pottery, you can not only witness the process of clay pottery but experience it too by yourself! For a low price, you can make your own clay pot with the help of the artisans of Sagada Pottery.
Lastly, if you would like to take home some clay pots, jars, and mugs, you can also buy their products. In this way, you can support their business too!
MARLBORO HILLS AND BLUE SOIL
Marlboro Hills or known by Sagada locals as Lamagan. Lamagan was named Marlboro Hills because of the presence of wild horses and other wild animals a few ages ago like its namesake, Marlboro Country.
A fan of witnessing sunrises? Lamagan is one of the most ideal place in Sagada to witness a breathtaking sunrise and a sea of clouds.
It is advisable to begin your trek to Lamagan in the morning as early as 4:00 AM, so you can reach the peak before sunrise. The trail is beginner-friendly but make sure that you wear a pair of comfortable footwear as it is quite a long trek especially if you would like to traverse to Blue Soil.
The guide fee for Marlboro Hills is Php 800.00 good for ten persons. The shuttle rental starts at Php 650.00.
As you traverse down Marlboro Hills, you can see up close one of the unique spots in Sagada— Blue Soil. Locally known as Kaman Utek, Blue Soil is near the Marlboro Hills, living up to its name, you can see a land colored in blue! The traverse from Marlboro will take approximately five hours. Perfectly on time for you to see the Blue Soil!
Guide fee for is at Php 800.00 good for 1 to 5 persons. Shuttle rental is at Php 850.00 and can carry up to 12 persons.
BALANGAGAN CAVE
A spot etched on Sagada’s history and folklore, Balangagan Cave will take you to a whole new world! As you arrive outside of the cave, a sparkly lagoon will welcome you. Aside from the lagoon, coffins and burial jars will welcome you from the outside of this cave. This is similar to the Hanging Coffins which can be found too in Sagada.
Since caves are usually watery and wet, it is advised to wear leggings and comfortable clothing. You should also wear shoes meant for trekking so you won’t slip through the cave.
