House Deputy Majority Floor Leader and Quezon City 4th District Representative Atty. Jesus “Bong” Suntay said on Monday the importance of safeguarding the police officers health and wellness as part of new normal, where public safety is the primary concern.
During the inauguration and blessing of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) multipurpose building gymnasium, Suntay said that keeping the country’s men and women in uniform will help assure that they can attend to the public’s needs as peacekeepers.
“Our police officers are the first responders at any given time and place. The weight of the daily stress on their jobs can greatly affect their wellness and mindset. It is essential that we should also provide an environment for them to focus on their self-care and mental health and provide facilities which will be able to enhance their capabilities and competence,” Suntay said.
“It makes sense that they should be taken cared of, before they can be of service to others, we should also be of service to them,” he added.
With the creation of the newly-constructed facility which houses office spaces, and living quarters for the city’s police force, a multipurpose gymnasium both for the uniformed and non uniformed personnel of the QCPD as well as for the residents of Barangay Botocan, he assures that he will continue to provide support for the men and women of the police force, and to make sure that they are mentally and physically fit.
“Ultimately, the employment of this project will address the growing needs of our community, especially now that we are gradually recovering from the howling pandemic that we have experienced for the past two years.”
“Seeing the much-needed infrastructure projects being brought and constructed in Camp Karingal is much-deserved. In fact, marami pa tayong pwedeng gawin at dapat pang gawin to show our support to our men and women in uniform,” said Congressman Bong Suntay. The City’s fourth-district solon guaranteed adding that he will strive hard to provide more and better facilities for the police force.
The newly-completed establishment, which houses multi-purpose building with gymnasium, PCO staff quarters, multi-level parking, perimeter fence of the QCPD and firing range, was made in partnership with Congressman Bong Suntay, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Present during the formal inauguration were Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Brig. Gen. Remus Balingasa Medina, DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado, DPWH-NCR Regional Director Nomer Abel Canlas, DPWH District Engineer Eduardo Santos, NCRPO Chief Regional Staff Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis, and QC 4th District Representative Atty. Jesus “Bong” Suntay, who led the inauguration as guest of honor and speaker.
