During the virtual media conference of the Filipino-American crime series Almost Paradise, Head of ABS-CBN International Production Mr. Ruel S. Bayani hinted a possible projects for the Almost Paradise star, Samantha Richelle.
“Over a hundred people auditioned from theater, film, television, [and] so many Kapamilya actresses audtioned,” Bayani shared, “Samantha was just about to deliver her second line and I was beside Cory Vidanes, we were watching the screen and Cory Vidanes whispered to me and said, she’s the one”
Bayani also mentioned how Richelle became one of the biggest revelations of the show, “Obviously Sam will receive a lot of offers after this and obviously, you will get offers from ABS-CBN”, he tells her during the media conference
“It feels amazing,” Richelle said after hearing great words from people around her, “I went in there with nothing to lose and I just have to be very grateful. Just to be able to get this project, I’m very thankful for this project, very thankful for the show.”
The half Filipino and half Bruneian was overwhelmed by the praise from the head of international production as well as her fellow cast members. Art Acuña, who plays the role of Ernesto Alamares, mentioned from past interviews that Richelle has a certain ‘instinct’ and was born to do acting.
Almost Paradise centers around former DEA agent Alex Walker (Christian Kane) who was forced to retire early and sets up a gift shop in the Philippines but is soon forced to return to his old life as soon as crimes and injustice plagues the island.
The international crime-drama series is soon to come to an end as it only has two intense episodes left to air. Almost Paradise is the first American series to be shot entirely in the Philippines with Filipino actors.
