ABS-CBN’s “A Family Affair,” starring Gerald Anderson, Ivana Alawi, and Sam Milby, has won over Latino viewers, achieving the highest rating in its timeslot on Ecuador’s leading free-to-air channel, Ecuavisa.

Filipino Dramas Shine in Latin America
According to Ecuavisa’s Programming Manager, Karina Medina, ABS-CBN’s dramas resonate with Latin American audiences due to their compelling narratives and strong production values.

“Ecuavisa is always searching for fresh and diverse content. In recent years, we introduced our first Filipino telenovela to our lineup, and it has been a great success. What makes a series stand out are these four essential elements: a love story, deep drama, a love triangle, and a great villain. The production quality, strong performances, and picturesque locations make ABS-CBN dramas highly attractive. These universal themes connect with our audience, which is why ‘A Family Affair’ has been so well-received,” Medina shared.
A Tale of Love, Secrets, and Betrayal
“A Family Affair” tells the story of Cherry Red (Ivana Alawi), who inherits a vast estate following the mysterious death of the town’s wealthiest matriarch. Her life intertwines with the Estrella brothers—Paco (Gerald Anderson), Dave (Sam Milby), Seb (Jake Ejercito), and Drew (Jameson Blake)—each forming a unique bond with her, particularly Paco and Dave. As the series unfolds, long-buried secrets and past crimes are revealed, changing their lives forever.
Expanding ABS-CBN’s Global Reach
Following the success of “A Family Affair,” Ecuavisa has launched another ABS-CBN drama, “The Broken Marriage Vow,” an adaptation of the UK hit “Doctor Foster” by Mike Bartlett and distributed by BBC Studios. This adds to a growing list of over ten ABS-CBN series that have aired in Latin America, including “Bridges of Love,” “The Promise,” “Destined Hearts,” and “The Heiress.”
With over 50,000 hours of content sold across 50+ countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America, ABS-CBN continues to evolve from a Philippine broadcasting giant into a global storytelling powerhouse, showcasing world-class Filipino talent on the international stage.
