Erwan Heussaff Reveals His Healthy Cooking Secrets with Manulife

Manulife Philippines is marking National Heart Month with the launch of a special video series featuring its brand ambassador, renowned Filipino restaurateur and multi-awarded cultural storyteller Erwan Heussaff.

Now available on Manulife Philippines’ social media platforms and YouTube, the video showcases Heussaff preparing kinilaw, a traditional raw tuna dish served with a tangy sauce and roasted vegetables, for a simple yet heartwarming lunch date with his wife, Anne Curtis. The recipe highlights quality and locally sourced Filipino ingredients known for their heart-health benefits, reinforcing the importance of making mindful food choices for a longer, healthier life.

“Heart disease and diabetes are among the most feared critical illnesses in the Philippines, and both are significantly influenced by lifestyle choices. My goal is to show Filipinos that taking care of their health doesn’t have to be complicated,” said Heussaff. “Through this video series with Manulife, we hope to demonstrate how simple steps—like cooking with whole foods and selecting nutritious local ingredients—can make a meaningful impact on overall wellness.”

A 2024 study by Manulife Philippines revealed that many Filipinos still struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Despite recognizing diet and nutrition as top priorities, respondents cited barriers such as the perceived high cost of healthy food, its less appealing taste, and the time required to prepare nutritious meals.

“With this collaboration featuring Erwan, we aim to inspire more Filipinos to see healthy eating as more than just a necessity—it’s an act of self-care and a way to show love for their families,” said Rahul Hora, President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Philippines. “Living a healthier lifestyle begins with small yet proactive steps. By making conscious choices about diet and nutrition, Filipinos can take charge of their health and wellness. At Manulife, we remain dedicated to empowering Filipinos to make informed health decisions—one meal, one plan at a time.”

Manulife Philippines plans to release more videos featuring the Heussaff family, encouraging Filipinos to prioritize their well-being through simple yet impactful lifestyle changes.
