At the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Malaysia, Agoda unveiled the fourth installment of its Eco Deals program, further strengthening its partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Aligned with the forum’s theme, “Unity in Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow,” the initiative aims to safeguard wildlife and protect critical habitats across Asia.
Building on its previous success, Agoda has set an ambitious donation target of USD 1.5 million for 2025, surpassing last year’s goal of USD 1 million. The program now includes Japan and Korea, expanding to a total of 10 markets. Under the Eco Deals initiative, Agoda pledges to donate USD 1 to WWF for every booking made at participating hotels.
Supporting Wildlife and Habitat Conservation
The funds raised through the Eco Deals program will support a wide range of conservation projects, including:
- Japan: Wetland restoration
- Korea: Spoonbill protection
- Malaysia: Tiger conservation
- Philippines: Whale shark protection
- Thailand: Elephant conservation
- Vietnam: Saola protection
- Indonesia: Ecosystem restoration
- Laos PDR: Urban wetland development
- Cambodia: Ranger support
Bookings under the program will be available from January 20 to December 19, 2025.
Introducing the Sustainable Tourism Impact Fund
This year, Agoda has also launched the Sustainable Tourism Impact Fund in collaboration with WWF-Singapore and UnTours Foundation. The fund is designed to provide affordable capital for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) committed to addressing sustainability challenges in tourism.
Agoda has allocated an initial USD 100,000 to the fund, which could increase to USD 150,000 if the donation target of USD 1.5 million is achieved. Eligible MSMEs can apply for low-interest loans ranging from USD 10,000 to USD 25,000 to advance sustainability efforts in travel. UnTours Foundation will oversee the fund, while Agoda and WWF-Singapore will provide mentorship and environmental expertise. Applications are open via UnTours Foundation’s website.
Expanding Eco Deals Impact
Through Eco Deals, participating hotels offer customers discounts of up to 15% while receiving an Eco Deals badge and increased visibility on Agoda’s platforms, including social media and in-app promotions. Dedicated landing pages on Agoda’s website provide a seamless booking experience for travelers looking to make a positive environmental impact.
Damien Pfirsch, Chief Commercial Officer at Agoda, shared, “Eco Deals 2025 represents our commitment to preserving Asia’s natural beauty while ensuring affordable travel for future generations. By expanding our impact to 10 markets and launching the Sustainable Tourism Impact Fund, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for hotels and businesses to contribute to sustainability.”
Collaborative Action for a Sustainable Future
Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, applauded the collaboration between Agoda and WWF, emphasizing its alignment with ASEAN’s 2025 tourism goals and Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia Year 2026 initiatives.
WWF-Singapore CEO Vivek Kumar highlighted the urgency of conservation, noting a 73% decline in global wildlife populations as revealed in WWF’s 2024 Living Planet Report. “Together with Agoda, we are committed to building a future where people and nature thrive,” he said.
Agoda’s Eco Deals program and the Sustainable Tourism Impact Fund underscore its dedication to fostering sustainable travel. By collaborating with WWF, UnTours Foundation, and its global network of partners, Agoda is paving the way for a greener, more inclusive future in tourism.
