The new “It’s Showtime” segment, “And The Breadwinner Is,” continues to capture viewers’ hearts as it highlights the struggles, sacrifices, and triumphs of Filipino breadwinners. By shedding light on their inspiring stories, the segment offers hope and recognition to hardworking Madlang People.
Kapamilya star Julia Montes, who guested on the November 28 episode, shared how she deeply relates to the contestants. As a former breadwinner herself, Julia revealed she began working at the tender age of 5, doing commercials and ads to support her family.
The November 30 episode featuring April, a breadwinner caring for her 10 siblings, struck an emotional chord with viewers and trended online. April’s heartfelt story moved the “It’s Showtime” hosts to pool together P100,000 as a Christmas gift for her and her family.
The segment also saw the participation of OPM group BGYO, who joined the December 2 episode to guess the breadwinner among the contestants. Although the group failed to identify the real breadwinner, Ethan, a personal driver, received a generous array of prizes: a hotel staycation, buffet dinner, tablet, executive check-up for him and his mother, and P20,000 cash, courtesy of “It’s Showtime.”
Netizens have taken to social media to express their appreciation and connection to the segment.
“Relate na relate ako sa ibang stories sa ‘And The Breadwinner Is’ ng It’s Showtime. At the age of 22, I started my 8-5 job and since then, I shoulder all of the expenses sa bahay—bills, food, shelter, etc. Yung pinaka bagong damit ko pa is galing ukay lagi. I’m so proud lang,” shared X user @ijhonrayandrada.
“I can relate much sa Showtime segment na ‘And The Breadwinner Is’ being a breadwinner for the family since age 15. Naiiyak ako palagi sa segment na ito,” added another user, @MariaLo77639658.
