Singer-songwriter JEL REY opens up about the emotional journey of moving on from a past relationship with his new single, “Bumabalik Pa Rin.”
In this introspective alternative indie-pop track, JEL REY explores the lingering feelings of wanting to reconnect with an ex-lover and express unresolved emotions. He wrote the song himself and collaborated with Edsel De Guzman of Drive of Daydreams and Roque “Rox” Santos, StarPop label head, on production.
JEL REY made his debut as a recording artist in 2023 with his first single, “hele pono,” which earned him a nomination for Best Performance by a New Solo Artist at the 37th Awit Awards. That same year, he released his first mini-album, “TERAPEWTIKA,” which includes tracks like “Nasa Alapaap Ang Paraluman” and “Tayo (ating istorya).” Last month, he dropped “Naiilang,” a heartfelt ode to the beauty of genuine friendship.
Known for his adventurous songwriting, JEL REY enjoys experimenting with various genres, including rock, hip-hop, pop, and soul. He also gained viral attention on TikTok, where he shares his creative process and impromptu performances with random strangers, capturing the authenticity of his music in real time.
