With a mission to make art appreciation accessible to all Filipinos, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is bringing a unique cultural experience to Biñan City, Laguna.
“Kwentong Kahoy,” an art exhibition that focuses on woodcraft, showcases the artistic craftsmanship of Filipino artists and indigenous tribes. Led by CCP in partnership with Arthaland, this exhibition celebrates the cultural and historical richness embedded in Filipino wood, capturing stories that reflect the heritage and creative spirit of the Philippines through the intricate art of wood carving, wood painting and a mix of media art. Selected artists and tribal groups from CCP’s 21st Century Art Museum (21AM) present pieces that feature a unique story where each artwork depicts the life of the Philippines’ culture and nature.
The Kwentong Kahoy Exhibit aims to diversify perspectives on culture across various regions, highlighting its significance and strengthening connections within the local communities. Designed not only to educate but also to immerse visitors in the creative process.
Sevina Park invites the Biñan community to experience woodcraft and relief printing up close, to expand their appreciation of wood art’s cultural and environmental story.
The exhibition, which opened on October 30, will remain free and open to the public until December 2, 2024, at the Sevina Park Pavilion in Biñan, Laguna. CCP, Arthaland, and Biñan City is known for its commitment in preserving and celebrating arts and culture. This exhibit serves as the ground to the dedication of embedding art into the lives of its people.
