The delightful pop track serves as the third single off his upcoming EP “jgh,” to be released next month
James Reid continues to capture the pop scene with his latest single “Mirasol,” released today through Sony Music Entertainment. This track not only showcases his undeniable charm but also reaffirms his status as a top-tier hitmaker, with a remarkable string of chart-toppers from the 2010s.
“Mirasol” explores the theme of falling in love with a sunflower, emphasizing that romance requires appreciation, protection, and understanding. As James notes, “Love is an organic process that needs to grow naturally.”
Co-written with R&B artist Alison Shore, whose work exudes effortless cool and ‘90s charm, the song uses the sunflower as a metaphor for a relationship that embodies sweet summer romance and innocence. James elaborates, “I want to connect with my fans on a different level that I haven’t achieved before. Writing in Tagalog (Filipino) was a welcomed challenge for me, and I’ve enjoyed it immensely.”
Tim Marquez of One Click Straight, a frequent collaborator of James, crafted a blissful sound that complements the romantic lyrics. The final product evokes the commercial and critically acclaimed style of James Reid from the Diary Ng Panget era but is presented with greater sophistication and subtlety in its production.
“Mirasol” is the third single from his upcoming EP, jgh, set to be released on November 22, 2024. The EP, which also features tracks like “Sandal” and “Hurt Me Too,” is described as a “return-to-form” record that delves into his softer, more vulnerable side while leaning towards a more pop-oriented direction.
James Reid’s “Mirasol” is now available on all digital music platforms worldwide through Sony Music Entertainment and Careless.
