ANNOUNCES 8-SONG PROJECT ‘FITS’
FIG, a Malaysian indie pop/R&B singer-songwriter of Philippine descent who grew up in Singapore and is now based in New York City, has just released her latest single, “Opposite Day,” featuring Japanese-American hip-hop artist Yoshi T. This lively track blends indie pop melodies with hip-hop rhythms, playfully exploring the familiar “love-hate” dynamic. Fans can stream the new single HERE and watch the music video HERE.
“Opposite Day,” the lead single from FIG’s upcoming project titled FITS (set to release on November 8th), bursts onto the scene as an energetic anthem. With catchy hooks and vibrant beats, it embodies FIG’s signature sound—playful yet relatable. The song captures the frustrations of miscommunication and the push-and-pull tension often found in friendships and relationships, resonating with anyone who has experienced a love-hate dynamic.
With relatable lyrics that address the challenges of communication in relationships, this collaboration beautifully merges indie and hip-hop elements, showcasing the vibrant, cross-genre energy of today’s dynamic and inclusive music scene.
FIG’s upcoming eight-track project, FITS, set to release on November 8th, combines her latest Feel Again EP with four brand-new songs. Inspired by the concept of large objects and the idea of scale, this project explores how we often resort to extreme or consuming behaviors to reconnect with ourselves.
Known for transforming everyday experiences into music, FIG brings a DIY spirit to her artistry, channeling self-expression that turns mundane activities and emotions into upbeat tunes and heartfelt ballads. She began her musical journey as a teenager, writing and recording songs in her bedroom, influenced by artists who started in similar circumstances. Today, she embodies this self-made attitude, writing full-length songs, creating their cover artwork, and directing and editing accompanying music videos.
FIG’s evolution has caught the attention of many, earning her spots on Spotify’s mood., Jasmine, and New Music Friday Malaysia playlists in September 2024. Her sound is resonating across the region, solidifying her presence on the platform and her growing profile within the indie music scene. She has supported artists like grentperez, Peach Tree Rascals, dhruv, Sarah Kinsley, and Tiffany Day on their tours. Her top streaming markets include Asian territories such as Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines, expanding her reach far beyond her NYC base and positioning her as an artist to watch in the vibrant Asian music landscape.
FIG has cultivated a dedicated community around her music through creative content, social engagement, touring, and her own events imprint, Cob Stand. Her A Mini Concert series highlights Asian American and Pacific Islander artists and creatives in intimate settings. This collaborative spirit is evident in her latest release, “Opposite Day,” where FIG and Yoshi T craft a track that resonates with listeners navigating the complexities of relationships.
