The Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4As) has introduced its Board of Trustees for the term 2024-2025, marking the commencement of a year dedicated to ongoing education in alignment with its 2024 theme: ‘Get Schooled.’ The induction and oath-taking ceremonies took place during the recent 4As General Membership Meeting held at NoKal Manila in Makati City.
The members of the newly inducted 2024-2025 Board of Trustees of 4As Philippines are TBWA\SMP Chairman & Chief Creative Officer Melvin Mangada as Chairman; Seven AD Chief Executive Officer Teeny Gonzales as President; Ogilvy Philippines Managing Partner Mike Garcia as Vice President; VML Philippines Chief Executive Officer Golda Roldan as Board Secretary; Grupo Agatep President & Managing Director Norman Agatep as Treasurer; The Huddle Room Managing Partner Reena Robles as Corporate Controller; and DDB Philippines’ Group Chief Culture Officer Anna Chua-Norbert, BBDO Guerrero Creative Chairman David Guerrero, and Elevation Partners Chief Executive Officer Martin de Guzman as Trustees.
Angkas Founder Angeline Tham presided over the swearing-in ceremony as the Inducting Officer.
During the event, Angkas Chief Executive Officer George Royeca delivered the keynote address, sharing insights gleaned from his experiences with the company, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an open mind and continuous learning. Reflecting on the association’s theme for the year, Royeca remarked, “In the ever-evolving landscape of media, there is always more to discover.”
Royeca elaborated on the shifting dynamics in the industry, noting the transition from merely changing perceptions to the more complex task of altering mindsets. He emphasized the need to understand how to influence individuals’ perspectives effectively, stressing the importance of connecting on a deeper level to drive meaningful change.
Outgoing chairperson Roldan provided a recap of the previous year’s focus on infusing joy into the workplace, expressing gratitude to members for their steadfast support of the association’s initiatives. Highlighting the emphasis on fostering creativity, celebration, and community, Roldan commended the agency members for their participation and commitment.
Outgoing president Agatep highlighted the association’s achievements over the past year, including the successful revival of the Kidlat Awards, revisions to the by-laws promoting inclusivity, the launch of the MEMOREELS YouTube page, and collaborative efforts with government and industry partners. Stressing the importance of quality relationships, Agatep underscored the role of the association in supporting its members through challenges and fostering a sense of community.
Incoming president Mangada unveiled the 4As’ theme for 2024, ‘Get Schooled,’ emphasizing the importance of embracing a student mindset and reconnecting with the industry’s younger demographic. Mangada outlined plans to collaborate with universities and colleges to cultivate future talent and drive innovation within the industry.
Lastly, Garcia provided a glimpse into the upcoming programs and activities aligned with this year’s theme, including the release of the second Happy Survey results, discussions on AI in advertising, and educational initiatives aimed at fostering creativity and business acumen.
Aligned with the belief that creativity drives business, Garcia reiterated the association’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting continuous learning within the industry.
