“Music makes me high, and it’s a damn beautiful feeling when you get to express yourself through it, and being understood by people by it.” – DK Tijam
RnB Heartthrob has once again captivated the hearts of Filipinos as he recently performed at his soldout gig in BEViTORE in Quezon City. It is his second solo sold-out gig since his last gig in 2018, “RESTART.”
Tijam is widely recognized for his soulful and rhythmic voice which made him a finalist in ABS-CBN’s singing competition, “Star in a Million” in 2003. He competed with also popular singers of the generation such as Erik Santos and Christian Bautista in the said competition.
Later in 2006, he released his debut album, “A Different Kind” which gained nomination by the Awit Awards as Best RnB Song and Best New Male Artist.
His music career was about to level up but he had to leave the Philippines to immigrate to Canada. However, although he has left the Philippines, he has never left his heart for music as he still continuously brings representation to Filipino music in Canada. Also, even though he has not been that active in the Philippine music scene, he is still relevant in the scene.
In 2017, DK Tijam won the weekly battle for Net 25’s ASOP (A Song of Praise) performing “Wala Kang Katulad.” Later in that same year he had his sold-out homecoming concert, “RESTART” in Teatrino.
That wasn’t enough to prove that he is still the “Heartthrob of RnB” as his rendition of a song by Queen of RnB Kyla, “Hanggang Ngayon” on the Wish 107.5 bus garnered 700, 000 views on YouTube. Aside from his cover of the famous Kyla song, he is also responsible for the backing vocals of Kyla’s “Hanggang Kailan” and two other tracks on the “Kyla Queen of RnB” album in 2018.
In 2020, he has established his account on the popular Pinoy hangout platform, Kumu wherein he regularly performs live to his 24k followers.
Last October 1, 2022, he once again returned to Manila to serenade the people at his sold-out gig, REPLAY. He has performed these songs on his gig (in no particular order:)
Basil Valdez – You
Ariana Grande – Into You
Grover Washington, Jr., Bill Withers – Just the Two of Us
Selena – I Could Fall in Love
Stephen Bishop – It Might Be You
Sam Concepcion – Mahal Na Mahal
