In this hard times, sometimes we only have each other to give a helping hand to the one who can’t and that’s why different people and different location have started a community pantry where people can take foods and groceries according on what they need and people can also put some foods and in demand things in this time, in that way we can help and receive help from different people.
With their slogan saying ” Magbigay ayon sa kakayahan, kumuha batay sa pangangailangan ” made everyone generous and responsible to their needs.
This community pantry have started in Maginhawa at Metro Manila, which was eventually replicated accross different cities and barangays. as according to the volunteers they were inspired about how it went well and how it helped people in the specific place.
“Sabi ng pamilya ko, ang goal lang natin is mabuhay, to survive, magpalakas, kung may sakit, magpagaling. Ginawa ko naman siya pero hindi mawala sa isip ko na may mga taong hindi kayang mag-stay safe at stay home kasi nakasalalay ang pangkain nila sa everyday na livelihood,” The source in Maginhawa’s Community Pantry said.
After this successful help, cities like Las Pinas, Pasig, and Quezon City have started different pantries and is hoping to maintain this help a little longer because people are starving to death as some barangay haven’t received any ayuda from the government.
According to Cedrick Valenzuela, one volunteer in Las Pinas, that they are planning to help different barangay in their city as they heard that most of it isn’t receiving any help.
“Nakakapagod pero masaya lalo na kapag nakikita mong nagbibigay din yung mga kumukuha ng kahit anong kaya nilang ibigay. Kahit piso malaking bagay na,” he added
People who is trying to grab some food in the pantry also followed quarantine protocol by wearing face shield and face mask while standing 5 meters away from each other.
Moreover, Philippine Animal Welfare Society really said that animals is in need too, that’s why they opened Community PAW-NTRY for fur babies.
This is for pet owners and for the stray animals who is in need too.
People only have each other and that’s why we should always try helping people as they can help us too.
