Here are the top five travel habits of Filipino Gen Z travelers:
1. TikTok as the New Travel Guide
For Gen Z, TikTok is the ultimate source of travel inspiration, with 22% using the platform to find their next adventure. Travel blogs and vlogs (17%) also influence their choices, while personal recommendations from friends and family (21%) remain a strong second—proving that word-of-mouth still matters in the Philippines.
2. Spontaneity at Its Finest
Filipino Gen Z loves the thrill of last-minute bookings, more than any other generation. One in seven books their stay less than a week in advance, while one in eight reserves flights at the last minute, making them the most spontaneous travelers.
3. Travel is Better Together
For Gen Z, travel is a shared experience, with 40% preferring to explore the world with a partner. Group trips with friends and family vacations also rank high, showing how important connection and companionship are to their adventures. Unlike Millennials, who prioritize family trips, Gen Z leans towards romantic and friendship-based travels.
4. Budget-Friendly Stays are a Must
Filipino Gen Z travelers are cost-conscious, with 57% choosing accommodations under USD 50 per person per night—a slightly higher percentage than Millennials (47%). Meanwhile, 31% of Gen Z are willing to spend between USD 51-100 per night, showing their ability to balance affordability with meaningful experiences.
5. Wanderlust is a Universal Language
Despite differences in booking habits, travel inspirations, and companions, one thing remains constant: the love for travel is universal. More than half of Gen Z and nearly half of Millennials plan to take 1-3 trips this year, while about a third aim for 4-6 getaways—proving that wanderlust knows no bounds.
